The Samsung Gallery app on Android will soon lose its integration with Microsoft’s OneDrive cloud storage service. In a support page shared by 9to5Google, Microsoft explained that Samsung Gallery will no longer sync directly with OneDrive starting on September 30, 2026.
After that date, the Samsung Gallery app will no longer show photos stored on OneDrive. These photos, however, will remain accessible from the OneDrive Android app and the web app. To continue backing up photos to OneDrive, Samsung Galaxy users will need to set up camera backup in the separate OneDrive app.
“If you previously used Samsung Gallery to OneDrive sync feature, you will need to update your camera roll settings to continue backing up new photos and videos and to access any photos you have already backed up via the OneDrive app,” Microsoft also explained in the support page.
While the OneDrive mobile app now offers a dedicated Photos tab for viewing and managing photos and memories, it’s probably not as good as Google Photos, which offers advanced search features and AI-powered editing tools. You may also have an incentive to use Google Photos if you already pay for a Google One or Google AI subscription. Last month, Google started offering 5 TB of Google Drive storage with a $19.99/month Google AI Pro subscription, up from the original 2 TB.
