Apple released yesterday the first 26.6 developer betas of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, which may be the last feature updates before the release of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 in September. We’re just three weeks away from Apple’s WWDC developer conference, which is where the company is expected to detail its revamped Siri assistant and many other new features.
As usual, the release notes for iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 don’t mention any new features. However, MacRumors spotted traces of a change that may inform iPhone users when their blocked contacts list is about to reach its limit.
“You’ve reached the maximum number of blocked contacts. To block additional callers, remove a blocked contact in Settings,” reads the new alert included in the beta’s code. At the moment, Apple doesn’t clearly indicate a maximum number of contacts iPhone users can block, but the limit is reportedly in the thousands.
While users can manually remove blocked contacts by going to Settings > Apps > Phone > Blocked Contacts, users currently need to remove them one by one, which is cumbersome. Maybe this is something Apple may want to fix in future betas. Last year, Apple released the versions 18.6 of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS on July 29, 2025, so the public release of iOS 26.6 is probably not going to happen until late July.
