
Apple has just raised the price of all iPad models and all Mac models except the Mac Mini due to the AI-fueled memory and storage crisis. The Apple Vision Pro, Apple TV, and HomePods are also becoming more expensive, but the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods are spared from the price hikes.
Tim Cook, who will soon pass the Apple CEO baton to John Ternus, recently warned that price increases were “unavoidable” due to the ongoing chip shortages. Speaking with Bloomberg, an Apple spokesperson said today that “the rapid expansion of AI data centers has created an extraordinary surge in demand for memory and storage,” adding that the company has “never seen a component price increase this much, this quickly.”
Here are the new starting prices for affected Apple products:
- MacBook Neo 256GB – $699 (previously $599)
- MacBook Neo 512GB with Touch ID – $799 (previously $699)
- 13-inch M5 MacBook Air – $1,299 (previously $1,099)
- 15-inch M5 MacBook Air – $1,499 (previously $1,299)
- 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro – $1,999 (previously $1,699)
- 14-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro – $2,499 (previously $2,199)
- 14-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro – $4,099 (previously $3,599)
- 16-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro – $2999 (previously $2,699)
- 16-inch M5 Max MacBook Pro – $4,399 (previously $3,899)
- M4 iMac – $1,499 (previously $1,299)
- M4 Max Mac Studio – $2,499 (previously $1,999)
- M3 Ultra Mac Studio – $5,299 (previously $3,999)
- 11-inch M5 iPad Pro – $1,199 (previously $999)
- 13-inch M5 iPad Pro – $1,499 (previously $1,299)
- 11-inch M4 iPad Air – $749 (previously $599)

These price hikes are global, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the iPhone, Apple Watch, and other Apple products are eventually affected. “We know this is not welcome news, and we are working tirelessly to find solutions,” the Apple spokesperson told Bloomberg.
