Dolby Vision 2 Will Soon Roll Out to Select Hisense TVs

Dolby Vision 2, the new generation of Dolby’s proprietary HDR format, is about to start rolling out to select TVs nearly a year after the technology was initially announced. Dolby has chosen Hisense as a launch partner, with select 2026 Hisense TVs set to receive Dolby Vision 2 support via firmware updates in the coming weeks.

As a reminder, Dolby Vision 2 will be available in two tiers: All TVs that support the base version of the proprietary HDR format will benefit from a new Content Intelligence feature that “dynamically adjusts the picture based on what you’re watching.” Consumers will also get an intensity slider to fine-tune image quality.

On premium TVs, Dolby Vision 2 “Max” will add an “Authentic Motion” technology to remove judder and a “Light Sense 2” technology that “continuously optimizes picture quality for any lighting environment without compromising artistic intent.” Hisense’s UX, UR9, UR8, and U7 (U7 pro in EU, MEA, CSA) TVs running Google TV or VIDAA OS will be the first models to support Dolby Vision 2 Max.

“With this update, Hisense TV owners will immediately notice a difference across all Dolby Vision content,” Dolby said in the announcement. “From movies and TV to games and live sports, everything they already love in Dolby Vision will look more captivating and authentic, offering a significant and immediate improvement to their Dolby Vision experience today. And the experience will only get richer with CANAL+, iQIYI, and Peacock committed to utilizing the expanded palette of Dolby Vision 2 capabilities.”

I wrote yesterday about HDR10+ Advanced, the royalty-free alternative to Dolby Vision 2 that will also make its debut on Samsung’s 2026 TVs later this month. I’m not sure if the timing of the Dolby Vision 2 rollout is coincidental, but we’re certainly going to hear much more about the two new HDR technologies in the coming months.
