Vivaldi 8.2 for Mobile Brings Extensions to Android

One week after the desktop release, Vivaldi 8.2 is available on mobile, and it brings a major new feature on Android: Full extension support.

“Vivaldi hands you every tool you need to browse on your own terms,” Vivaldi founder and CEO Jon von Tetzchner writes. “With our latest update, Vivaldi 8.2, we give you more. Or rather everything, with full extension support on Android, so you can shape your mobile browser exactly the way you want it.”

On Android Vivaldi 8.2 provides a new extensions button in the address bar you can tap to open the Chrome Web Store and browse extensions. These are the same extensions we see in Chrome and other desktop web browsers, and you can install and use them normally in Vivaldi for mobile, though some extensions won’t work and you can’t yet sync installed extensions between the desktop and mobile versions of Vivaldi. You can at least toggle extensions on/off on a site-by-site basis, however.

As with the desktop version, Vivaldi 8.2 also adds an address bar-based calculator, and this feature is on iPhone and iPad in addition to Android. Results appear like search results, below the address bar, and you can tap a Copy button to copy results to the clipboard.
