Google Labs CC Evolves Into an AI Agent for Families

Google announced today that it’s evolving CC, a Google Labs experiment, to become an agent for families and households. It’s available as an early experiment in the U.S. only to start.

“When we launched CC, our goal was to build a personal agent that helps you get ahead of your day,” Google Labs senior product manager Tom Shane writes. “One of our top user requests was for CC to do more to help run a busy home. Between school schedules, sports practices, paying bills, and figuring out what’s for dinner, managing a household is often a shared responsibility with a lot of coordination, made even more challenging with information spread over multiple user accounts.”

Google announced CC last December, and this has come up recently because the recently launched Gemini Daily Brief seems very similar. And this new announcement confirms that impression: Shane says that Google brought CC to the Gemini app as Daily Brief. In any event, Google Labs is using that transition to expand what CC does.

With the new CC, you will create a new Google account for the AI agent, which will have its own identity and permissions. Then, you can enable up to six members to manage and collaborate with the agent, which will see only the email, calendar items, tasks, and other data each chooses to share. The agent will then create a shared daily brief for everyone in the family.

As with the original CC, the “Your day ahead” email you get each day includes Top of mind, On your list, FYI, and other updates, but now each member can interact with the agent, assign tasks, and offload tasks to the CC agent. Each CC agent has its own shared memory. And each runs on its own isolated cloud computer powered by Google’s agentic harness, Antigravity, and the latest Gemini models, Google says. “This allows CC to handle tasks like pre-filling class registration PDF forms, checking live drive times from the Google Maps API between back-to-back activities, or creating shared Docs and Sheets.”
