Amazon announced that over 500 million of its customers are using passkeys to secure their accounts now.
“Today, we’re excited to share that more than 500 million customers have enabled passkeys on their Amazon accounts, allowing them to sign in six times faster than they could otherwise,” the Amazon announcement explains. “Adoption keeps growing every day, as more customers experience the convenience of passwordless sign-in.”
Amazon began rolling out passkey support three years ago and it’s seen a steady uptick ever since, with 175 million customers onboard in October 2024 and then 465 million this past May. In the past year, it’s made passkey access on Amazon faster and simpler, and all major Amazon apps now support this passwordless technology.
Looking ahead, Amazon says it’s focused on expanding passkey adoption across customer experiences, working toward a future where customers can use passkeys as their primary way to securely access their accounts without relying on passwords.
