Stardock Releases Start11 v3 in Preview

Stardock today announced the release preview of Start11 v3, the latest version of its Start menu replacement for Windows 11. Like previous versions, Start11 v3 offers new features for not just Start but also related user interfaces, in this case the Taskbar.

“We are continuing to push the boundaries of what is possible with the Windows desktop by giving users new ways to personalize how they interact with their applications,” Stardock’s Brad Sams says. “With widgets in the Start menu, taskbar islands, and the ability to organize your taskbar, Start11 v3 modernizes Windows 11 in a way that makes it feel entirely new but also familiar.”

Start11 v3 includes:

  • Start menu widgets. Start11 v3 lets you use interactive widgets in the Start menu. There are over 20 available today, including calendars, notes, clocks, and more.

  • Start menu sharing. Start11 users can now share their customized Start menu pages with others, browse the customized pages others have made, and explore a gallery of thousands of Start button designs directly from within the app.

  • Taskbar Islands. This cool feature makes the Taskbar look more like the macOS Dock, with a modern, rounded look that supports both centered and left-aligned layouts.

  • Taskbar app groups. Now you can hold down the Alt key while you drag a Taskbar app icon over another app icon to create an app group. You can also pin an app group as a workspace so that all the apps in the group launch together when clicked.
  • Taskbar recent items button. This new Taskbar button lets you access recently closed apps, overflow items, and Taskbar tools, including a visual separator for keeping the Taskbar more organized.

Start11 v3 is available now in release preview, and is available as part of Stardock’s Object Desktop suite. It will normally cost $10, but it’s on sale during the preview for $8. You can learn more on the Stardock website.
