Microsoft is once again redesigning its Xbox app for PC with a new UI that’s more consistent with the web and TV experiences. This new app, which is now available for Xbox Insiders, should also launch up to 60% faster.
“These changes are part of our work to make XBOX faster, simpler, and more familiar wherever you play. We’ve heard where the experience could be better. There’s more to do, and your feedback will continue to shape what comes next,” said Jason Beaumont, VP, Xbox Experiences.
In addition to performance improvements, the new Xbox app for PC makes the Friends list and social features available right from the left navigation panel. The Library section is getting new filters and new ways to organize games, while the search feature should make it easier to find store content, installed games, and people on the Xbox network.
We’re making XBOX on Windows faster and more responsive. Starting today, we’re rolling out updates that make our app up to 60% faster. A meaningful improvement, with plenty more to do. pic.twitter.com/h5kzHSpR8H

This refreshed UI is also coming to the Xbox app on supported TVs and VR headsets. On the web, it was already available for testing, but Microsoft plans to enable it by default for more players in the coming weeks. This new Xbox web app is also adding five new high-contrast options in addition to dark and light modes.
If you’re wondering, the Xbox team didn’t forget about console gamers: Last week, the Xbox October update started rolling out with the new Mythic Achievements, startup animation settings, the ability to delete local saves for unused games, and more.
