Microsoft Copilot for Security

Microsoft Copilot for Security, the company’s new AI-powered security solution that uses a natural language interface similar to ChatGPT and Microsoft’s other Copilot products will become generally available on April 1. The generative AI security product, which has been available through an early access program since last year (when it was still called “Microsoft Security Copilot”) works with other Microsoft security products and also offers integrations with other security vendors.

“Microsoft Copilot for Security is a force multiplier for the entire Microsoft Security portfolio, which integrates more than 50 categories within six product families to form one end-to-end Microsoft Security solution. By implementing Copilot for Security, you can protect your environment from every angle, across security, compliance, identity, device management, and privacy,” said Vasu Jakkal, CVP of Security, Compliance, Identity, and Management at Microsoft.

Microsoft’s new generative AI security solution is available as a standalone portal where users can ask questions about their security infrastructure using natural language. However, its capabilities are also available within Microsoft’s existing security products such as Microsoft Defender XDR, Intune, and Microsoft Entra.

The new Copilot offering can also bring insights from products from other vendors to generate customized guidance. Microsoft also detailed new capabilities today including knowledgebase integrations, custom promptbooks for common security tasks, and usage reporting.

Microsoft Copilot for Security will require an Azure subscription when it becomes generally available on April 1, and monthly usage will be billed via a new Security Compute Unit (SCU) at the rate of $4/hr. You can learn more details about how to prepare for the general availability of Microsoft’s new generative AI security solution on the Microsoft Security Copilot blog.
