Google has started making Magic Editor and other AI-powered editing tools available to more Google Photos users. The company announced last month that its AI editing tools would become free for all Google Photos users starting on May 15, and 9to5Google is reporting that the roll out is starting this week with owners of older Pixel phones.
Magic Editor was previously exclusive to Google’s Pixel 8 and 8 Pro devices. The feature lets users move objects in a picture and do other complex edits with the help of AI. Magic Editor is now accessible on all Pixel devices, and it’s also coming to all Google Photos users on iOS and Android, though with only 10 Magic Editor saves per month. To get more edits, iOS and Android users will either need to get a Pixel phone or subscribe to a Google One plan with 2TB of storage ($9.99/month or $99/year) or more.

In addition to Magic Editor, Google is also making, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Portrait light, and other AI editing tools available for free for all Google Photos users. The company previously said that the roll out will take place over a couple of weeks, though some editing features aren’t currently available on the web. On mobile, users will need to be running Android 8 and up and iOS 15 and up.
While Google is making AI features free on Google Photos, the company recently launched a $19.99/month Google One AI Premium plan that provides access to the company’s most capable Gemini AI model in Gmail, Docs, and more. However, these Google AI capabilities are currently only available in English.
