Apple is releasing iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 today, and the new updates bring a second wave of Apple Intelligence features to iPhones, iPads, and Macs that support the company’s personal intelligence system. The biggest update is probably the integration of OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Siri and Writing Tools, but Apple Intelligence is also getting localized English support for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK.
Here are the main new features included in iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2:
ChatGPT integration: OpenAI’s chatbot is now accessible within Apple’s Siri Assistant and the Writing Tools, which are accessible within any app. The ChatGPT integration is opt-in and doesn’t require an OpenAI account, though there are some usage limits. However, users who choose to connect their account with a paid subscription can access OpenAI’s advanced AI models.

Describe your Change in Writing Tools: Besides the existing Rewrite, Proofread, and Summarize options, users can now specify the change they’d like to make to their writing when using Writing Tools across any app.
Image Playground: This is Apple’s new image generation tool. It lets users create images using a natural language prompt. Image Playground is available as a standalone app but is also integrated into Apple Messages, Freeform, Keynote, and other apps.

Genmoji: This feature lets users create custom emojis by simply typing what they want to create into the emoji keyboard. Genmoji can also be created by using images from friends or family members as a base.
Image Wand: In Apple’s Notes app, iPad users can now create an image by just circling the written or visual context already present in the note.
Visual Intelligence: iPhone 16 users can now use the new Camera Control button to get more information about their surroundings. Visual Intelligence lets users ask directly what they want to know about what they’re seeing, translate text, or search the web for more information.
These new Apple Intelligence features are only available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models plus all iPad and Mac models with M-series chips. As of this writing though, it looks like iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 aren’t immediately available for download. Apple will likely stick to its usual release schedule at 10 AM PT.
In the coming months, Apple plans to roll out more Apple Intelligence features including Priority Notifications, onscreen awareness for Siri, and more. Support for additional languages including Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese is also coming next year.
