OpenAI Makes ChatGPT Deep Research Available for All Paid Users

OpenAI ChatGPT Deep Research

Deep Research, the new AI research agent that OpenAI launched for ChatGPT Pro subscribers earlier this month is now available for all paid users of the chatbot. However, the resource-intensive feature, which can create a detailed report on a specific topic in tens of minutes, will have some usage limitations.

OpenAI claims that Deep Research, which its o3 model powers, can do the job of an experienced research analyst. The final output of Deep Research queries comes with clear citations, web links, and embedded images. Since its launch earlier this month, OpenAI has also improved the research assistant’s ability to understand and reference uploaded files.

As of today, ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users will only be able to use 10 Deep Research queries per month. OpenAI’s $200/month ChatGPT subscription, however, offers 120 Deep Research queries per month.

To use Deep Research, ChatGPT subscribers just need to toggle ‘deep research’ in the message composer and enter their query. The AI chatbot will then take up to 30 minutes to complete its research and deliver its results within the chat conversation.

OpenAI isn’t the only AI player working on “agentic” capabilities for its chatbot. Google’s Gemini AI offers a similar “Deep Research” feature to paid customers, and it can also create multi‑page reports in minutes.
