OpenAI is introducing new connectors on ChatGPT, allowing the chatbot to access data from third-party apps like Google Drive, Dropbox, or SharePoint. The new connectors are only available for ChatGPT paid plans, with Team, Enterprise, and Edu users getting access to more features.
First of all, all ChatGPT paid users (except in the EEA, Switzerland, and UK) are getting access to connectors in ChatGPT’s Deep Research mode, which is designed for more complex queries across several sources. “Deep research can use connectors to read, reason over, and cite internal sources, alongside the web, to produce fully cited reports,” OpenAI explained.

ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, and Edu are also getting access to Box, Dropbox, OneDrive, and SharePoint connectors in the ChatGPT search experience, which is best for everyday tasks. When these connectors are enabled, ChatGPT results can include links to open the original files on connected services.
There’s also what OpenAI calls a “Google Drive Synced Connector” for ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, and Edu users with a Google Workspace plan. This connector can improve response speed and quality by syncing content from Google Drive in advance.
OpenAI says that it doesn’t use information accessed from connectors enabled by Team, Enterprise, and Edu customers to train its models. However, the “Improve the model for everyone” setting will be enabled by default for ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Pro users, who will still be able to disable it.
Lastly, OpenAI is also rolling out a new record mode for ChatGPT Team users on macOS. It can be used to record and transcribe meetings and brainstorming sessions, and even turn them into actionable insights. This new ChatGPT Record mode will be coming soon to Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu plans.
