AI startup Perplexity is launching a new Email Assistant to help Perplexity Max subscribers manage their Outlook and Gmail inboxes. The new assistant will complete the company’s Comet Assistant that’s built into the company’s AI web browser, which remains exclusively accessible with a $200 per month Perplexity Max subscription.
“Perplexity Max subscribers have shown powerful adoption of the Comet Assistant that launched with Comet and Comet Max Assistant launched in July exclusively for Max subscribers. In fact, early data shows the Comet assistants increase the number of questions and tasks users accomplish per day by 3-18X,” the company explained. “Your inbox deserves the same intelligent partnership, which is why we’ve built Perplexity Email Assistant.”
The new Perplexity Email Assistant works as an AI agent that can be added to any conversation with the chatbot or to an email thread. Perplexity Max subscribers first need to connect their Gmail and Outlook inboxes within the Perplexity Email Assistant Hub, and then the AI agent will be able to automate various tasks while learning from users’ communication styles and priorities.

In short, the new Email Assistant can automatically organize emails by tagging them, auto-draft responses that match the tone and style of users, schedule meetings with others, summarize their activity, and highlight key priorities based on email exchanges. The AI agent uses enterprise-grade encryption for all data transmission and storage, and the company also promised not to use customers’ emails to train its AI models.
Perplexity Max subscribers can sign up to try the new Email Assistant on this page. It remains to be seen if the company will eventually make its new AI agent available with its more affordable Perplexity Pro subscription, which is currently priced at $20 per month.
