Anthropic’s Claude Models Are Coming to Microsoft Foundry and Adopting Nvidia Architecture

AI startup Anthropic announced today an expansion of its partnership with Microsoft to scale its Claude AI models on the Microsoft cloud. The company will also optimize its AI models for Nvidia’s architecture, and both Microsoft and Nvidia will also invest in Anthropic as part of these new strategic partnerships.

Back in September, Microsoft announced that it was making Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4 and Claude Opus 4.1 available as an alternative to OpenAI models in Copilot Studio and its Researcher agent. Microsoft will now expand access to Anthropic’s frontier Claude models by making them available in public preview on Microsoft Founrdry, its unified Azure platform for building production applications and enterprise agents.

“This enables companies to build with Claude, the world’s best models for coding, agents, and office tasks, all while using their existing Microsoft ecosystem. Developers can also use Claude models in Microsoft Foundry with Claude Code, our AI coding agent,” Anthropic explained today.

As part of its renewed partnership with Microsoft, Anthropic has also committed to purchase $30 billion of Azure compute capacity. The AI startup also announced a new design and engineering partnership with Nvidia, which will help to optimize the performance of Anthropic models on Nvidia’s AI chips. Lastly, both NVIDIA and Microsoft are committing to invest up to $10 billion and $5 billion in Anthropic, respectively.
