OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Health

OpenAI ChatGPT Health

OpenAI is launching today a new Health experience in ChatGPT designed to provide better health and wellness advice to users based on their medical records. ChatGPT Health is available as a dedicated space in the app, with additional protections to protect users’ sensitive information.

“Health is already one of the most common ways people use ChatGPT, with hundreds of millions of people asking health and wellness questions each week,” OpenAI said today. “Designed in close collaboration with physicians, ChatGPT Health helps people take a more active role in understanding and managing their health and wellness—while supporting, not replacing, care from clinicians.”

ChatGPT Health is launching initially for a small group of ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro users outside of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK. It’s accessible from the new “Health” section on the ChatGPT sidebar, and US users are invited to upload their medical records and connect apps like Apple Health to import their health and fitness data. ChatGPT Health also integrates with other apps, including MyFitnessPal, Function, Weight Watchers, AllTrails, Instacart, and Peloton.

After importing their personal health information, ChatGPT users can ask health-related questions and get responses that leverage the medical information they provided. “Health information and memories never flow back into your non-Health chats, and conversations outside of Health can’t access files, conversations, or memories created within Health,” OpenAI emphasized.

In addition to using purpose-built encryption and isolation for health data, OpenAI said that it doesn’t use conversations in ChatGPT Health to train its AI models. Users can also remove access to their medical records at any time.
