Proton Releases Lumo 1.3 With Projects

Proton today announced the immediate availability of Lumo 1.3, the latest version of its private AI assistant. The key new feature is Projects, which lets users create dedicated spaces for all the chats, files, and other requirements for tasks that remain in sync across every device and session.

“Projects gives Lumo the context it needs to chip in on larger projects or recurring subjects, whether you’re working on a big report, ongoing university coursework, or your 2026 planning,” Proton’s Eamonn Maguire writes. “Staying private and productive has never been easier.”

Projects are encrypted AI workspaces for storing everything related to a project. This can include files, chats, specific instructions related to the tone, style, and persona of the project. This lets Lumo remember all chats and files associated with a project so you can seamlessly pick up where you left off at any time. Projects can be used for just about anything. In the web app, it has suggestions like Writing coach, Financial assistant, and Learn a language.

Projects integrates with Proton Drive, and Proton reminds us that it will never use any of your data to train its AI models, while all chats are zero-access encrypted and all files are only accessible to you.

Projects are available to all Proton Lumo users. Free users get a single Project, while Lumo Plus unlocks unlimited Projects, faster response times, more advanced AI model access, unlimited chats, and more. And Lumo Professional gives business users team-based access to Projects.

“Projects mark the next step in Lumo’s evolution as a smart AI assistant that complements day-to-day use without sacrificing privacy,” Maguire adds. “Projects keep your work focused, accessible, and truly yours.”

Lumo is available as a web app on desktop and there are Android, iPhone, and iPad versions of the app as well. You can learn more on the Proton website.
