Alexa+ Introduces Conversational Food Ordering Experience on Uber Eats and Grubhub

Alexa+ Uber Eats Grubhub

Amazon’s next-gen Alexa+ assistant now lets users order food from Uber Eats and Grubhub through a new conversational experience, which is currently only available on the Echo Show 8 smart display and larger models. When starting an order, Echo Show users will be able to explore restaurants, ask questions about their menus, and build their carts as if they were talking to a waiter.

“Now when you start an order, you’ll see a new conversational window where you can naturally explore, decide, and order with minimal back-and-forth with Alexa,” Amazon explained in the announcement. “You’ll see the changes in real time on the screen, and Alexa only steps in when you need help or have questions.”

To access this new food ordering experience, Alexa+ users will first need to link their Grubhub or Uber Eats account through the Alexa mobile app. When it’s done, Alexa+ will have access to past orders, and users can start looking for restaurants or specific food by using natural language prompts. The display on the Echo Show 8 and bigger models makes it easy to review selections before completing an order, and progress can be tracked from the “For You” section or by just asking Alexa+.

Amazon said that it’s already planning to extend this new ordering experience to other activities such as grocery shopping and travel planning. In the meantime, Prime members can take advantage of a free Grubhub+ perk that includes $0 delivery fees on eligible orders, 5% credit back on pickup orders, lower service fees, and some exclusive offers.
