Meta AI Chatbot Adds Support for Incognito Chats

Meta AI incognito chats

Meta announced today the launch of a new Incognito mode in its Meta AI chatbot, which allows users to have “completely private” conversations with its AI assistant in the dedicated Meta AI app and on WhatsApp. The company said that Incognito Chats leverages WhatsApp’s Private Processing technology, a confidential computing infrastructure that prevents Meta, WhatsApp, or any third party from accessing user data.

“When you start an Incognito Chat with Meta AI on WhatsApp, you’re creating a private, temporary conversation that only you can see. Your messages are processed in a secure environment that even Meta cannot access. Your conversations are not saved and by default, your messages disappear — giving you space to ask questions and explore ideas without anyone watching,” the company explained.

Meta integrated its Meta AI chatbot right into WhatsApp’s Chats tab and search bar, and there’s currently no way to disable it. Meta AI is also available within Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, and there’s also a standalone Meta AI app on iOS, Android, and the web. Meta said today that Incognito Chats will roll out globally over the coming months.

Meta is also working on a new Sidechat feature protected by Private Processing on WhatsApp. “Side Chat with Meta AI will give you private help with any WhatsApp chat with context of what’s being discussed, without disrupting the main conversation,” the company explained today.
