Anthropic Files for an IPO

Just days after receiving a stunning new valuation of $965 billion, Anthropic announced it will seek an initial public offering (IPO) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

“Today, Anthropic, PBC confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering of our common stock,” the AI giant announced. “This gives us the option to go public after the SEC completes its review. The proposed initial public offering will depend on market conditions and other factors.”

Anthropic has not set a share price yet, nor has it disclosed how many shares it will issue. But in taking this step, it appears to have pulled out ahead of two other AI firms, OpenAI and SpaceX, that will also go public this year if the stars align. Each has a chance at history in the form of the biggest IPO ever.
