Google is Giving Gemini Advanced to U.S. College Students for Free

Made with Gemini

Google revealed today that it is making Gemini Advanced free for U.S. college students through the finals season in Spring 2026.

“This limited-time offer gives you access to 2 TB of storage and incredible AI models, like Gemini 2.5 Pro and Veo 2, via Gemini Advanced (including Deep Research, Gemini Live, and Canvas), NotebookLM Plus, Gemini in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and Whisk, an experimental creativity tool from Google Labs that lets you generate images and videos,” Google announced. “The best part: This offer isn’t just for finals this semester. Sign up before June 30, 2025, and you’ll get free access all the way through finals in Spring 2026.”

In other words, if you’re a college student in the United States, you can use all the features that come with Gemini Advanced, including the 2 TB of Google Drive cloud storage, for the next year or more. You just need to sign up by June 30. (Normally, students get this service for 50 percent off the normal retail price, which is $20 per month.)

Google cites the following use cases, though the value here is pretty obvious:

  • Exam preparation. You can upload your documents, notes, and slides and Gemini will turn them into a study guide, a practice test, or even a podcast.
  • Writing help. Gemini Advanced can help you work up a first draft, work on your arguments, and fine tune ideas.
  • Homework help. If you upload an image or file of what you’re working on, Gemini will give you clear, step-by-step guidance to help you learn how to get to the answer.
