Google announced the release of Nano Banana Pro, its most powerful image generation and editing model yet. Built on Gemini 3 Pro, Nano Banana Pro is rolling out to consumers, students, professionals, developers, the enterprise, and creatives across multiple Google products and services.
“From restoring old photos to generating mini figurines, Nano Banana was a big step in image editing that empowered casual creators to express their creativity,” Google DeepMind’s Naina Raisinghani writes. “Today, we’re introducing Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image), our new state-of-the art image generation and editing model. Built on Gemini 3 Pro, Nano Banana Pro uses Gemini’s state-of-the-art reasoning and real-world knowledge to visualize information better than ever before.”
Google says that Nano Banana Pro is capable of the following:
The sample images that Google provides in its announcement post are indeed impressive, as are the ways in which one might access these capabilities. Nano Banana Pro is available in the Gemini app (under “Create images” with the Thinking model), and those with Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscriptions get higher quotas. It’s rolling out today to Workspace customers in Google Slides and Vids. Developers and the enterprise can access it in the Gemini API and Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity, and Vertex AI, and it’s coming soon to Gemini Enterprise. And creatives with a Google AI Ultra subscription can use Nano Banana in Flow, Google’s AI filmmaking tool.
Google also announced that the Gemini app can now be used to identify AI-created images: Just upload an image to Gemini and ask. A similar capability for audio and video is coming soon.
