Google Labs Announces CC, a New AI Experiment for Email

Google Labs announced a new AI productivity experiment called CC that provides a sort of daily briefing each morning that’s based on Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and the web. And while these types of things can sometimes be confusing—NotebookLM falls into this category, at least for me—I appreciate that Google is experimenting with new AI capabilities outside its core apps and services.

“CC is our new experimental AI productivity agent from Google Labs, built with Gemini to help you stay organized and get things done” a new post on the Google Keyword blog explains. “When you sign up, it connects your Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and the wider web to gain an understanding of your day, delivering a ‘Your Day Ahead’ briefing to your inbox every morning.”

This seems immediately useful to me, and I assume the name “CC” is based on the CC (carbon copy) function in email: It sends you a daily brief via email and you customize it by emailing CC or just replying to the email it sends. You can tell it about yourself, make corrections, add to-dos, or just provide thumbs-up and thumbs-down feedback. For now, CC is not part of Google Workspace or Gemini, but it is covered by the Google data policy.

CC is an early Labs experiment, so it’s currently limited to Google (Gmail) consumer accounts for those 18 years old and over in the United States and Canada and with an active Google AI subscription. You can sign up for the waitlist on the Google Labs website.
