Microsoft 365 Copilot customers in the Frontier program now have access to two major new agentic capabilities, custom apps and workflows.
“This week, we’re bringing AI-powered building to employees across the organization, with new agents for Microsoft 365 Copilot customers in the Frontier program: App Builder and Workflows,” Microsoft president Charles Lamanna writes. “Using these agents and Copilot Studio, Copilot now enables employees to turn ideas into impact by creating apps, workflows, and agents—just as easily as having a conversation. Describe what you need in natural language, and Copilot helps you build it. And because the outputs are integrated with your Copilot experience, they’re secure, governed, and connected to your Microsoft 365 data.”
App Builder is a new Microsoft 365 Copilot agent that helps users create custom apps in minutes, with no database required. It is grounded in your documents, presentations, spreadsheets, notes, and other Microsoft content, and it can create a Microsoft Lists back-end if needed. “Work with App Builder to create and refine dashboards, charts, calculators, lists, and any other interactive element you can dream up,” Lamanna says. “You can preview and refine your app, over multiple edits and comments, without leaving Copilot.”
The Workflows agent helps users automate tasks like sending email messages and reminders, managing calendars, and sharing team updates. It uses natural language interactions to automate flows across Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Planner.
Tied to this, Microsoft 365 Copilot now hosts a lightweight Copilot Studio experience so that you can more easily create productivity-focused agents grounded in your work data. If you exceed its capabilities, you can move up to the full Copilot Studio product to access advanced workflows, model selection, collaborative multi-agent systems, and other advanced features.
“App Builder, Workflows, and Copilot Studio lite are built on the same enterprise-grade security, compliance, and reliability principles as Microsoft 365 Copilot,” Lamanna adds. “These agents respect user context, enforcing individual permissions and role-based access to support governance. They are available exclusively through Microsoft 365 which helps ensure all activity stays secure, compliant, and aligned with organizational policies.”
App Builder is coming later this week, but the Workflows agent is available now for customers in the Frontier program.
