Amazon’s Blink Launches $35 Home Security Camera

If you are in the market for a new security camera for your house, Amazon may have just announced the perfect product. Amazon’s Blink today introduced the new Blink Mini, a $35 home security camera.

Amazon acquired Blink back in 2017, just months before the company acquired Ring for $1 billion. And although Amazon has been mostly announcing new Ring products over the last year or so, it’s now launching a new Blink camera to expand its line of home security cameras.

The new indoor camera costs only $35 for one, and you can get two for only $65. It allows for 1080p HD live streaming and recording, motion detection, and two-way audio. The camera also includes night vision via the built-in infrared light. The device comes with Alexa integration, which means you can use a device like the Echo Show to see the live view of the camera or watch recorded clips.

Amazon is offering free cloud storage on the Blink Plus service till December 31, 2020. After the offer ends, you can pay $3 a month or $30 year to keep using the cloud storage.

In the future, Amazon plans to launch the new Blink Sync Module 2, which will allow users to store clips locally for only $35. The company expects to launch the new Blink Sync Module 2 later this year.

You can pre-order the Blink Mini right now, and Amazon plans to ship the device starting April 15.

<p>Bringing back Blink? Amazon heavily markets Blink and came out with a new camera , the XT2 less than a year ago. Heck I have even see infomercials for the Blink systems. Their current cameras, both indoor and out require no monthly or yearly fees. </p><p><br></p><p>I have four Blinks on the perimeter of my house. Battery life has been excellent. The batteries in my first camera last 18 months. the highest usage camera, on my driveway, lasted a year.</p>

<p>Can it stream continuously to an echo show? I have a wyze cam, but it will only stream for 10 min then drops out. Wyze and Amazon pointing fingers at each other.</p>

<p>So a lower price camera but they have stopped the key thing that differentiated Blink from the rest – free cloud storage, no subscription unlike Ring. </p><p><br></p><p>I bought a XT2 just last month, excellent value at £79 including sync module, makes me wonder if they are selling the older units off to make way for a newer range. I hope they don’t go the inkjet printer route of super cheap devices but stinging you on the ink/cloud subscription. </p>
