Mac Pro. Gurman previously reported that Apple had to scale back its plans for its next-generation Mac Pro workstations, the first to be built on top of the Apple Silicon platform. Now, he reports that this product will look identical to its Intel-based predecessor and that users will not be able to upgrade the RAM (as is the case with all Apple Silicon Macs). All Mac Pros will feature “two SSD storage slots and for graphics, media, and networking cards,” Gurman says, but a high-end configuration with 48 CPU cores and 152 graphics cores, has been canceled and replaced with a version based on the M3 Ultra chipset. “It’s unclear—beyond the machine’s expandability—why most users would buy it over the cheaper and smaller Mac Studio.” That is why, Mark.

MacBook Pros. Originally slated for 2022, a next-generation family of MacBook Pro laptops based on the M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets will now appear in the first half of 2023. They will share the same form factor as their predecessors and come in both 14- and 16-inch models as before.

15-inch MacBook Air. Apple’s eagerly awaited 15-inch MacBook Air will finally arrive in 2023, which is an awfully wide range of time. A rumored 12-inch model is not happening, however.

iPhone 15. This coming family of handsets will feature the same screen sizes as the iPhone 14 family, but Dynamic Island will expand to the non-Pro models. All iPhone 15 models will feature USB-C and faster processors, and the Pros will have titanium frames and haptic volume buttons.

Reality Pro headset. Apple’s MR headset will be branded as “Reality Pro,” in keeping with the branding it uses in its iPhone and iPad product lines (and hinting, perhaps, that a cheaper non-Pro model will appear in the future). This long-delayed product will now be unveiled at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June, Gurman says, and its operating system is codenamed “Borealis” but will be branded as xrOS publicly.

Apple TV, Apple Watch, iPad, and more. No major changes to Apple TV, Apple Watch, or iPad in 2023, Gurman says. The rumored larger iPad Pro is a 2024 product. But the rumored larger HomePod 2 will happen in 2023.

A few more codenames. iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 are codenamed “Dawn,” while macOS 14 is codenamed “Sunburst.”
