Apple is refreshing its Apple Watch lineup today, and the new Apple Watch Series 10 is coming with some pretty substantial updates. The new midrange Watch model is getting an updated design ahead of the 10th anniversary of the original Apple Watch model in Spring 2025.
While Apple refreshes its flagship smartwatch model every year, there are no new Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra models today. However, the latter is now available in a new Black Titanium finish.
Apple hasn’t updated the design of its flagship watch model since the release of the Apple Watch Series 7 three years ago, so it was time for a refreshed look. The new Series 10 doesn’t radically change the design of the Apple Watch, but the new models, which are still available in two sizes, 42mm and 46mm, come with slightly larger screens. The new watches are also Apple’s thinnest Apple Watch models ever released.
The bigger displays on the Apple Watch Series 10 provide up to 30% more screen area compared to the previous models. They’re also Apple’s first-ever wide-angle OLED displays: In practice, they should be up to 40% brighter when viewed from an angle.
The Apple Watch Series 10 is available in three new polished aluminum finishes: Jet Black, Warm Rose Gold, and Silver. The casing is now 9.7mm thin and 10% lighter than previous aluminum models. This year, the stainless steel option has also been replaced with a new polished titanium finish that’s 20% lighter, and it’s also available in 3 colors.
Under the hood, many components have been redesigned to save space. The Series 10 is also the fastest-charging Apple Watch, with 30 minutes of charging filling up the battery to approximately 80%. Other notable updates include the ability to play media directly through the speaker, and new machine learning models will also suppress background noise during phone calls.
With watchOS 11 on the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple is introducing new fitness and healthcare features. A new Depth app will automatically launch when users go underwater, and the Series 10 also comes with a new sensor to detect water temperature.
With Sleep Apnea Detection, the Series 10 will also be able to detect if users repeatedly stop and restart breathing while they sleep and suggest they seek medical advice. This feature relies on the watch’s accelerometer to detect breathing disturbances.
Sleep apnea detection will complement the existing sleep-tracking features that have been available since the release of watchOS 7 in 2020. However, it won’t be exclusive to the Series 10 as it’s also coming to the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra.
The Apple Watch Series 10 starts at $399, and it’s available for pre-order starting today ahead of its release on September 20.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 remains the company’s best sports watch with a rugged design, more fitness features, and a bigger battery. The watch is now available in a new Black Titanium finish, with a matching Milanese loop made from corrosion-resistant Titanium.
For people who like the Apple Watch Ultra 2 design but aren’t into extreme sports, Apple also announced a new Hermes En Mer band with an exclusive Hermes Maritime watch face. The new Satin Black Apple Watch Ultra 2 starts at $799, and it’s also available for pre-order starting today and coming on September 20.
