Apple Releases Version 27.2 of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS

iOS 27.2

Apple is rolling out version 27.2 of its software lineup today, bringing new languages and other improvements to Siri AI, Apple Pencil support for the new iPhone Duo, and more. Except for iOS 27.1, which shipped exclusively on the iPhone Duo, Apple didn’t release 27.1 updates for the rest of its software platforms. That’s why we’re going straight to version 27.2 today.

Here are the main new features across iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, and macOS 27.2:

Siri AI improvements: The new assistant now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish in addition to English. Siri AI can also now remember context from previous conversations, and it can also pull information from more sources (photos attached in Messages, calendar events, voicemails, etc.) to provide more relevant responses. Except on macOS, Siri AI is still not available in the EU.

Apple Pencil support for iPhone Duo: Apple’s new foldable iPhone is now compatible with the Apple Pencil with USB-C. Other Apple Pencil models are not supported.

Suggested Actions in Messages: Apple’s Messages app will now suggest relevant actions using context from previous messages.

SynthID watermarking detection: The Apple Photos and Image Playground apps can now detect AI-generated pictures with an invisible SynthID watermark.

New Apple Music icon: The new black and white Apple Music icon inspired by a soundwave is now available across all platforms

Apple Podcasts improvements: The app’s Home tab now has two separate sections for New Episodes and Continue Playing.

User profiles in Apple TV: The app now lets users create separate profiles with personalized content recommendations.

New Home Controls: Apple’s Home app is adding support for Lock After Closing and Door Left Open options for compatible smart locks.

Let’s wrap up with watchOS 27.2 for eligible Apple Watch models and tvOS 27.2 for all Apple TV 4K models except the 1st generation. watchOS 27.2 adds the same Siri AI updates I mentioned earlier, including support for additional languages, as well as the new Apple Music icon.

Lastly, tvOS 27.2 adds support for ASL (American Sign Language) and BSL (British Sign Language) on a selection of movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app. Users are also getting a new “Shuffle” feature for screensavers and more control over the type of pictures from their Photos library that show up when using the Portraits and Memories & Slideshows screensaver categories. As a reminder, the new Siri AI, which will be available out of the box on the upcoming 4th-gen Apple TV 4K, is also coming later this year to the 2nd-gen and 3rd-gen models.
