Apple Releases First 27.3 Developer Betas for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS

iOS 27

Apple released today the first 27.3 developer betas for all of its software platforms. The biggest changes can be found in iOS 27.3, which is getting the redesigned Health app that Apple announced earlier this year. As noted by 9to5Mac, the new update also introduces a new Vertical Tabs option for Safari, which is also available on iPadOS 27.3 and macOS 27.3.

The redesigned Apple Health app features a new Insights tab with Sleep information, a new Readiness score, and other fitness data, completed by a For You section with personalized recommendations. The app also introduces a new Longevity tab with a Health Age feature that uses various Apple Watch metrics plus clinical laboratory data (optional) to estimate how users’ bodies are tracking relative to their chronological age.

In Safari, a new Vertical Tabs option is available alongside an Adaptive Dark mode that will apply a dark theme to websites that don’t have one. Apple’s web browser also now allows Siri AI to manage tabs.

Other notable updates on this first iOS 27.3 developer beta include a new Reachability accessibility feature on the iPhone Duo. iPhone users are also getting more customization options for StandBy mode, including a wider choice of digital and analog clock faces.

For Apple Watch users, the first watchOS 27.3 developer beta enables the new Siri Recap and Live Rewind features on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. With Siri Recaps, the latest Apple Watch models can create intelligent summaries of conversations that happened throughout the day. The Live Rewind feature, however, can recall what was just said in the last 15 seconds.

To address privacy concerns, Apple previously explained that Siri Recaps and Live Rewind “do not create or store audio recordings, and raw audio used for processing is completely inaccessible to the operating systems, apps, the user, or Apple.” All text snippets created by these “Audio Intelligence” features are also end-to-end encrypted.
