WhatsApp has started rolling out support for message editing globally. By doing a long-press on a sent message, WhatsApp users will soon see an option to edit a message, though it will just be available for up to fifteen minutes after a message has been sent.
“For the moments when you make a mistake, or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages,” the WhatsApp team said today. The 15-minute limit seems long enough to realize that you may want to add or remove something to a message you sent.

Messages that have been edited will display ‘edited’ alongside the time stamp, and recipients won’t be able to see the previous message. “As with all personal messages, media and calls, your messages and the edits you make are protected by end-to-end encryption,” the WhatsApp team emphasized today.
Again, message editing will roll out gradually and WhatsApp expects that all users will have it in the coming weeks. If you can’t wait for this feature, make sure to install the latest version of WhatsApp from the App Store and Google Play Store.
