Dropbox Launches Two AI-Powered Productivity Features

What I Use: Dropbox

Dropbox is joining the growing pool of productivity apps introducing new AI-powered features. Today, the company announced Dropbox Dash, a new AI-powered universal search tool, as well as a collection of generative AI features under the “Dropbox AI” label.

With Dropbox Dash, the cloud storage platform is adding a universal search engine that can use connectors to browse content on other cloud-based services including Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook, and Salesforce. There’s also a Dropbox Dash browser for creating collections of URLs named “Stacks”, see shortcuts to recent files, and more.

Dropbox Dash is now available in beta for select customers, and enthusiasts can join the waitlist here. Dropbox also said that new generative AI features are in the pipeline.

“Soon, Dash will be able to pull from your information and your company’s information to answer questions and surface relevant content using generative AI. You won’t need to sift through all your company’s internal links and pages to find out when the next company holiday is—you’ll just be able to ask Dash and get an answer, fast,” the company explained today.

Dropbox AI, the other generative AI tool the company announced today can be used to summarize large documents, videos, or meeting recordings. It also lets users ask questions about a file, such as the expiration date of a contract.

Dropbox AI is now available in Alpha for select Dropbox Pro customers in the US. The company said that it will soon be capable of analyzing folders or an entire Dropbox account, and that may well become a standout feature of the cloud storage service.
