Microsoft is Making its Bing Chatbot Available in Chrome and Safari

Microsoft has started making its Bing chatbot available on other web browsers than Microsoft Edge. Windows Latest spotted that the chatbot should now be available for most Chrome users, and some Safari users are also able to access it as well.

Back in February, Yusuf Mehdi, CVP and Consumer Chief Marketing at Microsoft said that the company would prioritize access to its Bing chatbot on its Edge browser, even though the company intended to bring it to all browsers “over time.” As of today, though, your mileage may vary. As of this writing, I’m still seeing an invite to download Microsoft Edge when I try to access the chatbot in either Chrome or Safari.

For those of you who manage to get the Bing chatbot working in other browsers, it appears that it currently has some limitations. Prompts are reportedly limited to 2,000 characters instead of 4,000 in Edge, and users are also restricted to just 5 conversation turns instead of 30. Bing remains better integrated into Microsoft Edge as the chatbot is also accessible from the Edge sidebar, where it can be used to create content or summarize web pages.

Last week, Microsoft started rolling out visual search support in Bing Chat. The feature lets users upload images in a chat conversation and ask the AI to either find related content or create new content based on that image.

The company also launched Bing Chat Enterprise in preview last week. For organizations, Bing Chat Enterprise provides the same “Copilot for the web” experience with the added guarantee of commercial data protection.
