Google Photos Starts Rolling Out AI-Powered Memory View

Google Photos Memory View

Google has introduced today a new AI-powered Memory View in Google Photos. The new view is rolling out first to Google Photos users in the US, and it’s accessible right from the app’s bottom navigation bar.

Google Photos previously introduced a Memories carousel at the top of the app to highlight important events, but this new Memories view will work differently. Google describes the feature as a “scrapbook-like timeline” where users can craft and save their favorite memories.

“You can choose to save your favorite memories to your Memories view or create your own from scratch. The Memories view also lets you easily add or remove specific photos and videos that show up and hide memories altogether,” the Google Photos team explained.

A new experimental feature available from the “Help me title” button will provide users with intelligent title suggestions for their memories. At launch, this feature will only be available for select users in the US.

Google Photos users can also share memories with friends and family members and let other people add their contributions to a shared memory. For people who don’t use the app, Google is also working on the ability to share memories as videos.

If you have yet to try it, Google Photos remains one of the best free apps for organizing your photo collection, and it’s available on the web, iOS, and Android. If you have a Google One subscription to get more cloud storage, you’re also getting some exclusive Google Photos editing features.
