Google Duet AI to Cost $30 Per User Per Month, Just Like Microsoft 365 Copilot

Google Workspace Duet AI

Google confirmed today that its Duet AI offering for Workspace business customers will cost $30 per user per month. This neatly highlights the high cost of AI workloads for Big Tech, as Microsoft’s similar Microsoft 365 Copilot offering is priced identically.

“Duet AI is an always-on AI collaborator that is deeply integrated in Google Workspace and Google Cloud,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian writes in an announcement post ahead of the firm’s first in-person Google Cloud Next event since 2019. “Duet AI in Workspace gives every user a writing helper, a spreadsheet expert, a project manager, a note taker for meetings, and a creative visual designer. Duet AI in Google Cloud collaborates like an expert coder, a software reliability engineer, a database pro, an expert data analyst, and a cybersecurity adviser.”

Duet AI in Workspace is now generally available and costs $30 per user per month. Duet AI in Google Cloud is still in preview, but it is expanding to more customers and will be generally available later this year, Google said.

Google announced Duet AI at Google I/O 2023 back in May, and it has since updated the service with new capabilities. And with its general availability, there are more new features, including Google Meet and Google Chat integration. Paying Google Workspace customers interested in getting started with Duet AI can now contact Google and get a free trial.

Google also revealed that Workspace, its cloud productivity suite, has over 3 billion users, over 10 million of which pay for the service. It is, in Google’s words, “the world’s most popular productivity tool.”
