Microsoft is planning to detail the future of file management in OneDrive during a digital event on October 3. The public event will be streamed on Microsoft Teams at 10 AM PT, and it will be followed by a live Q&A session.
“Join Jeff Teper and the OneDrive product team as they showcase the next generation of file management across Microsoft 365. See the new enhancements to OneDrive and discover the benefits of faster file access, better organization, simpler collaboration, and improved file security across Microsoft 365. Plus, we’ll give a sneak peek at our AI plans which include new search, sharing, and information queries across all your files in OneDrive,” the OneDrive team wrote yesterday.

Microsoft recently gave the OneDrive web app a fresh coat of paint for the service’s 15th anniversary, but the AI features that the team teased in the event announcement are in line with what the company has been doing since the launch of the Bing chatbot: Introducing new AI-powered “Copilot” experiences across all of the company’s cloud-based services.
AI should also be one of the themes of Microsoft’s upcoming special event on September 21. This event won’t be live-streamed, however, but the company may make the video available after the event as it did on previous occasions.
