Ignite 2023: Microsoft 365 Commercial Customers Get Access to Clipchamp and Microsoft Designer

At its Ignite conference this morning, Microsoft announced that it’s bringing two new visual content creation apps to Microsoft 365 commercial customers. The first one is Clipchamp, the cloud-based video editing app that Microsoft purchased back in 2021.

In late August, Microsoft made Clipchamp available to commercial customers through its Targeted release channel. Starting today, the app is now generally available for commercial customers with Microsoft 365 Enterprise (E3 and E5) and Business (Standard and Premium) suites.

Later this year, Microsoft plans to make Clipchamp available as a standalone license for commercial customers. Moreover, the app’s premium features such as 4K exports and premium stock content will be available for commercial customers starting in December 2023.

The second content creation app that’s becoming available for Microsoft 365 commercial customers is Microsoft Designer, the company’s new AI-powered graphic design app. Designer uses the same generative AI technology as OpenAI’s DALL-E, and it can be used to create images from a simple prompt.

If Microsoft Designer has a dedicated web app for consumers, Microsoft said that commercial customers can now access it via the Edge sidebar. Later this year, it will also become available via Microsoft Teams, Word, Powerpoint, and Whiteboard. However, the full-fledged web app won’t be generally available for commercial customers until later next year.
