Instagram Edit direct messages DMs

Meta has just announced some updates for the private messaging experience on Instagram. Users can now pin up to 3 conversations at the top of their inbox, edit messages for a limited time, and turn read receipts on or off.

Starting today, Instagram users can now edit messages up to 15 minutes after sending them. This can be done by pressing and holding a message and tapping the “edit” button from the dropdown menu.

When you need to reply to a specific message, Instagram will now surface all the different ways you have to express yourself. You can just press and hold on a specific message and see all the different reply options including voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and stickers. The app also now lets users save their favorite stickers for easier access.

For privacy-conscious users, read receipts in DMs can now be turned on and of for all conversations or just specific ones. The toggle to disable read receipts for all conversations can be found in Settings > Messages and story replies > Show read receipts.

Lastly, Instagram is also adding new themes to personalize private conversations today. The team said that more updates will be coming soon to improve the messaging experience in the app.
