Microsoft Teams is once again getting some love at the company’s Build developer conference this year. This morning, the company detailed new Teams feature to improve collaboration, new AI-powered capabilities in Microsoft Teams Premium, and more.
Microsoft launched Teams Premium last year as a paid add-on providing additional features to make meetings more intelligent and protected. IT admins can now prevent users from sharing content with external participants, and meeting organizers will also be able to manage who can record and transcribe meetings starting next month.
Microsoft Teams Premium already includes AI-powered meeting features such as intelligent recaps and AI-generated tasks and action items. Starting next month, Intelligent recap will be able to provide AI-generated meeting notes and tasks in meetings with only transcription but not recording enabled.
Several new features that already exist on apps like Slack or Discord are also coming to all Teams users, including custom emojis and reactions as well as slash commands. Teams already supports slash commands in the command box at the top of the app, but the compose box you use to talk in Teams channels and private messages is also adding support for slash commands to perform quick actions.
With the new support for adaptive card-based Loop components from Jira, Trello, and other services, Teams users can now insert this content directly into Teams chats and channels and let other participants update it in real-time. These adaptive card-based Loop components are also coming soon to Outlook.
Microsoft also announced other updates for Loop components today as well as new enhancements for custom app experiences connected to Microsoft Teams. You can follow our Build 2024 coverage on this page.
