Microsoft 365 Outage is Affecting Teams and Outlook

New Outlook for Windows

Microsoft is rushing to fix an outage affecting various online services including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook. The company reported the issue 10 hours ago and has since released a fix, but the recovery is taking longer than expected.

“We’re investigating an issue impacting users attempting to access Exchange Online or functionality within Microsoft Teams calendar,” the company said in its initial message. Microsoft later explained that a “recent change” may have caused the outage, and the company reverted it and deployed a fix to bring affected services back to normal. We’re not there yet, however.

“We’re facing delays in our recovery efforts and are taking immediate action to address them,” the company said an hour ago. “We understand the significant impact of this event to your businesses and are working to provide relief as soon as possible.”

I noticed the issue earlier today when I was unable to access my Outlook inbox, but things have since gone back to normal on my end. I’m in Europe though, and your mileage may vary.

As often with these outages, it’s not exactly easy to keep track of what’s happening, but you can be sure that Microsoft is doing what it can to resolve the situation as soon as possible. In the meantime, you may want to keep an eye on the Microsoft 365 Status account on X for more updates. IT admins can also find additional details about the outage on the Microsoft 365 Admin Center under the MO941162 item..
