Proton today announced Albums in Proton Drive, a highly requested photo organization and sharing feature.
“This new feature enhances Proton Drive’s existing secure file and photo storage experience,” Proton’s Anant Vijay explains. “Albums lets you manage your memories with ease and privacy, all while continuing to protect your files with Proton’s industry-leading privacy and security safeguards. The only people who can access your images are you and the people you choose.”
Albums in Proton Drive simplifies how you store and revisit personal memories, Proton says, by allowing you to create and curate custom collections and rely less on search. You can share albums and invite others–while determining who can view or contribute–via email. Like anything in Proton Drive, albums support real-time sync, so they’re always up-to-date. Albums in Proton Drive also supports favorites, so you can highlight your favorite photos.
Proton has plans to improve Albums with more organizational features in the near future, photo sharing via links that will support non-Proton users, and quick filters for things like screenshots.
Albums in Proton Drive is now available to anyone with Proton Drive, and if you’re on mobile, just update the app to see this new feature. If you’re a new customer, you can sign up for Proton Drive Plus and get 200 GB of cloud storage, which Proton says it enough for 40,000 photos (assuming 5 MB file sizes).
