Microsoft is launching today new Windows 365 Cloud Apps in public preview. These new cloud-based apps allow IT admins to give users access to just specific apps like Outlook or Word running on Windows 365 Cloud PCs, rather than providing them access to a full Cloud PC.
Windows 365 Cloud Apps are available within the Windows App, which now has a Windows 365 filter on the Apps page. Following a private preview, Microsoft is now making it easier for organizations to deploy Cloud Apps by using Intune Autopilot in place of custom images.
“Windows 365 Cloud Apps runs on Windows 365 Frontline Cloud PCs in shared mode. The Windows 365 Frontline licensing model enables shared Cloud PC access for shift-based or part-time workers, allowing unlimited users per license with one active session at a time,” Microsoft explained today.
Along with its Windows 365 Frontline offering for shift and part-time workers, Microsoft sees Cloud Apps as a flexible solution to simplify app delivery in environments like retail, healthcare, and government, all without requiring a dedicated Cloud PC for every user.
