WhatsApp is Now Available on the Apple Watch

WhatsApp Apple Watch app

WhatsApp has just launched a new Apple Watch App that lets users read and respond to messages, record and send voice messages, and more. The new app is available on the Apple Watch Series 4 or later, and it requires watchOS 10 or later.

Until now, Apple Watch users could only see WhatsApp notifications from their iPhone on their smart watch, and long messages weren’t readable. The new WhatsApp app for Apple Watch can display full messages, images, and stickers, and it also lets users send quick emoji reactions when they don’t want to write messages directly from their watch. WhatsApp on the Apple Watch will also let users see who’s calling them without looking at their iPhone.

“This is just the start of making WhatsApp on your Apple Watch an even better experience. As always, your personal messages and calls remain private with end-to-end encryption,” the WhatsApp team said in the announcement.

It certainly took a while for WhatsApp to release a native Apple Watch app, as the first Apple Watch model was released 10 years ago. We also didn’t get a WhatsApp app for iPad until May 2025. “We look forward to delivering even more useful functionality for people with Apple Watch in the future,” the WhatsApp team said yesterday.
