WhatsApp for iPhone will soon add support for multiple accounts, which has been a top-requested feature from users of the popular messaging app. WABetaInfo reports that the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS allows some users to add a new account in the app and seamlessly switch between the two accounts.
As of today, the common solution for using two WhatsApp accounts on the same device is to use the standalone WhatsApp Business app. However, WhatsApp’s multiple account feature will allow users to have two different accounts within the same app, with the idle account still receiving alerts about messages and phone calls.
WhatsApp already explains how its multiple account feature works on a support page. Users just need to have a separate phone number to register a second account in the app, and each account can have customised notification and privacy settings.
Other Meta apps like Instagram, Threads, and Facebook already let users connect and switch between multiple accounts, so it’s time for WhatsApp to catch up. While the app probably still relies too much on phone numbers, WABetaInfo previously reported that support for usernames is in the pipeline. The feature is currently expected to roll out to the public later in 2026.
