Proton Drive CLI Updated for Businesses

Proton introduced its Proton Drive command line interface (CLI) back in June and now it has some nice updates for businesses of all sizes.

“Businesses rely on automated workflows to back up records, transfer files, and keep critical information available to the right people, both in and out of the team,” Proton’s Michal Hořejšek explains. “When those workflows send sensitive client or operational data to a conventional cloud storage provider, your business has less control over who can access that information. Proton Drive Command Line Interface (CLI) offers a private alternative.”

The Proton Drive CLI is available for Linux, macOS, and Windows, which, yes, means that a full Proton Drive client for Linux is on the way as well. It allows individuals and businesses to automate file storage, backups, transfers, and sharing while maintaining the end-to-end encrypted, open-source, and independently audited Proton Drive experience that customers expect.

“Law firms can automatically archive case files, contracts, evidence, and privileged communications when a matter closes,” Hořejšek adds. “Accounting firms can schedule secure backups of tax documents, financial records, and client reports. Protect client deliverables, research, and NDA-covered material with automated encrypted backups for professional services. Remove a client’s access the day an engagement ends and keep a consistent process for archiving completed projects … Healthcare organizations [can] move patient records into HIPAA-compliant cloud storage as soon as they’re created.”
