As you may know, Microsoft designed Teams Rooms to address the needs of the hybrid workplace. It’s an ecosystem of hardware products, software, and services that lets businesses turn any room into a meeting space with in-person and remote participants. With this change, there are now Teams Room Basic and Teams Rooms Pro versions of the service.

Teams Rooms Basic is free and, aimed at small businesses, and included with the purchase of any certified Teams Rooms device purchased on or after September 1, 2022. Customers can apply up to 25 Basic licenses to their tenant, Microsoft says.

Teams Rooms Pro will cost $40 per user per month and it combines existing Teams Rooms features with a set of new features, some of which are coming soon, plus advanced management capabilities. Some new and coming soon features include intelligent audio and video that combines audio and video from Microsoft Teams-certified devices with video layout options like front row, noise suppression, and bandwidth optimization; advanced camera capabilities that AI to help remote attendees feel like they are in the room; engagement features from Teams like wirelessly sharing content, raise hand, and live reactions; chat bubbles; enterprise-grade management and security; and more.
