Instagram’s Improved Explore Tab Focuses on Stories, IGTV, Shopping

Instagram is rolling out somewhat of a major upgrade to its Explore page today. The company is introducing a slightly revamped Explore experience that focuses on Stories, IGTV, and Shopping.

Your regular Instagram posts are staying on Explore, but you will now be able to view Stories from within Explore. This means Instagram has revamped the Explore algorithm to also recommend you Stories from people you may be interested in. It recommends Stories based on things you already watch and the people you follow, so you won’t just get random, popular Stories from around the social network.

Instagram’s also introducing improved experiences for IGTV and Shopping within Explore. IGTV has been one of the things Instagram has been aggressively pushing for a while, and it’s now introducing a dedicated button for IGTV within Explore on the navigation bar that will let you view a personalized feed of recommended videos from Instagram.

And for Shopping, Instagram is introducing a new experience that lets you filter products based on different categories so you can find the exact thing you are looking for. It’s really useful for when you are looking for new clothes or things to decorate your home with and just need some inspiration.

Most of these features are rolling out starting today, but some things — like the Shopping filters — are only available in the United States for now.
