Instagram Is Putting Ads on Explore

Instagram is putting some more ads on its app. Although Instagram shows advertisements basically everywhere, including things like Stories, and your main feed, the Explore tab was left untouched for a while. Even though the Explore tab is used by a ton of Instagram users, the company never really put any ads on there.

Until today.

Instagram is now putting ads on Explore. And it’s doing so by slowly introducing ads into the experience. After all, the grid-based interface of the Explore tab isn’t as easy as the main Instagram feed to put ads on. And so, Instagram is simply putting ads into the suggested feed that you get when tapping on a post in Explore. That means you won’t see an ad on the Explore grid itself — for now, anyway. “We’re introducing ads in Explore slowly and thoughtfully in the coming months,” the company said.

That’s a very inconspicuous way of putting ads into Explore, but Instagram will probably make the ad placements more prominent in the future. TechCrunch reports that advertisers will get the opportunity to opt-in for these Explore ad placements for now, but Instagram will make it default in the future, with an option to opt-out.

I remember when i could watch a subject matter on Youtube, and my whole suggested video list was relevant.

Is this what is going to happen to Instagram, where suggested feeds are advertiser approved (oops i mean friendly) blue checkmarked feeds? Are instagram employees (oops I mean algorithms and AI) going to blacklist people now and de-prioritize their feeds and push advertiser bought (oops i mean friendly) personalities? I honestly don't know how instagram works in this regard, but i know one thing .. once advertisers are involved … its downhill from there.

i see censorship and blacklisting on the way ….
