Microsoft today outlined two new AI-powered features in Copilot in Microsoft Edge: Video highlights and screenshot integration.
“At Microsoft Edge, we’ve been developing AI-powered tools to help you browse smarter and achieve more than you thought possible,” Microsoft’s Roger Capriotti writes. “Copilot can do even more when accessed in Edge. In Edge, you can not only ask Copilot for information, but you can also ask questions about information you’re viewing on the browser – at home or on the go. And this past month we’ve added even more functionality to Copilot that’s only available in Edge.”

The first of these features, called video highlights, examines the transcript of YouTube and Vimeo videos and then creates a list of time stamps so you can navigate immediately to the part of the video you want. You can also ask Copilot questions about a video you’re watching, like “What does this video say about the best time of the year to start a garden?” and “What are the key moments for [my favorite soccer player] in this video?”
Microsoft released Edge 122 late last week, and while there wasn’t a lot in the way of new features, at least one change is notable: Microsoft renamed the longstanding Web Capture feature to “screenshot” and changed its icon. And now Copilot in Microsoft Edge integrates with this feature so that you can take a screenshot by clicking the “Add a screenshot” button in the prompt box; then you can ask it what the image is. For example, “What is the name of this plant?”
Both features are available in Microsoft Edge 122 and newer.
