Amazon to Host a Live Alexa Developer Event

Amazon will host a free, live virtual event aimed at Alexa skill builders, device makers, startups, and business leaders on July 21. It’s called Alexa Live.

“Alexa Live is an event for Alexa skill builders, device makers, startups, and business leaders eager to learn about the power of ambient computing and the latest advancements in voice technology,” Amazon’s Jeff Blankenburg announced. “It’s my favorite time of the year because we not only get to showcase the latest product advancements, but also celebrate our diverse developer community—all of you who are innovating every day on behalf of customers.”

Alexa Live will include a keynote address plus dozens of breakout sessions, demos, and panels, Amazon says, all of it aimed at expanding the reach of what Amazon calls ambient computing.

“We believe ambient computing technology should always be available to make life easier and better for customers, without getting in their way,” Blankenburg continues. “Our vision is for Alexa to be an ambient assistant that is proactive, personal, and predictable—and it’s our mission to make Alexa available to delight customers everywhere they want her to be. The Alexa developer community is critical to helping us achieve our mission, and we’re focused on helping you create great customer experiences, drive growth for your skills and devices, and making it easier to develop for Alexa.”

Interestingly, I had my first Amazon Chimes video conference yesterday. Nice, simple layout and the quality was relatively good.
